Expected Meal Count (EMC)
What it is
EMC gives Food Partners an earlier estimate of how many meals to prepare for a Group Order, before the final order cutoff. Partners get more time to plan ingredients and staffing. FPMs and CSMs get better visibility into expected volume while they schedule.
How it works
EMC automatically predicts a meal count range from the best data available for each program:
  • Established programs: uses past order volume from the same day of the week first, and adds other historical data when it needs to.
  • Newer programs: without enough history, the estimate can fall back to a CSM-set count, or to the program's number of registered users.
  • The math: EMC takes a weighted average of up to the last 4 same-weekday orders (the most recent counts most). It shows a range of ±25% around that average. For example, a weighted average of 115 shows as 86–144.
  • Warming vs. mature: a program with 1–3 prior orders on that weekday shows as warming. Once it has 4, the prediction is based on a full history.
  • Adhocs are excluded from history. Only regular orders whose cutoff has passed count toward the prediction.
Admin – Schedule Planner
The predicted EMC range now appears in the Schedule Planner sidebar, with a short note on where it came from (e.g., "Based on the last 3 same-weekday orders").
  • CSM override: click Edit to replace the prediction with a fixed meal count when you know more about the client (e.g., an office closure or a big event). An override shows as a single number, not a range. To go back to the prediction, clear the field and save.
  • EMC History: click See More to see each weekday's weighted average and the past order counts behind it.
  • After cutoff: editing locks and the field shows "Cutoff passed".
Chef Dashboard
Food Partners now see an expected meal range on their Group Orders before cutoff. Each Food Partner sees their share of the overall EMC, based on their share of that client's past orders. What they see depends on whether the order cutoff has passed:
WhereBefore cutoffAfter cutoff
Orders list → Order Size column Expected range (e.g., "90-150 meals expected") + "N items ordered so far" (or "Waiting for orders") Actual count only: "N items ordered"
Order detail → Expected Meals (replaces the old Head Count) Expected range Not shown

*"Before cutoff" means at least one of the Food Partner's menus on that order hasn't reached cutoff yet. If no menus are assigned yet, the Order Size column shows "No menus scheduled" instead of an EMC range.

Weekly Schedule Reminder Email
The weekly "Next Week Group Order Schedule" email that Food Partners get every Thursday now shows the expected meal count next to each upcoming Group Order. A range shows both numbers. A CSM override shows as a single number.
  • Before: - GRPWAS13950 (4/21)
  • Now: - GRPWAS13950 (4/21), 36-56 meals expected

Update
Proposal Links Now Valid for 24 Hours
The "View Proposal" link in emailed catering proposals now stays valid for 24 hours (up from 12). CSMs who send proposals near the end of the day no longer have to worry about the link expiring before the client opens it the next morning. The email copy now reads "*Link is valid for 24 hours."
